A one day Seminar on 'UCP600 from Sri Lankan Perspective', organized by the Trade Finance Association of Bankers held on 26th May 2007 at Ceylon Continental Hotel was a great success, with the participation of over 200 bankers, importers and exporters. Almost each and every commercial bank operating in Sri Lanka was represented. It was a good opportunity for the participants to listen to experienced senior bankers. The speakers were Messrs. A. Kathiravelupilai, Parama Dharmawardene, Michael Peiris, Nilam Jumat and Chatura Rudesh. They explained all 39 Articles of the 2007 Revision of Uniform Customs & Practice, ICC Publication No. 600. The panel discussion which followed was very interactive and many participants actively contributed by bringing up numerous technical issues. The panellists comprehensively answered all issues raised by the participants. The feedback received from the participants was very encouraging and some of the participants requested more frequent events of longer duration.
